We started with one bar of soap and a simple mission: BUY A BAR. GIVE A BAR.
In 2011, Bill Glaab and his wife, Courtney Apple, read an article that said 5 million children die each year from water-related illnesses and that 45% of these deaths could be prevented with simple hand washing alone. A lightbulb went off—what if they could create a business that focused on a better soap, that was more sustainable, and could give back by saving lives? From there, Hand In Hand Soap was born.
In 2012, we took our first soap donation trip to Haiti. That trip suddenly made the work we were doing real. From small beginnings, we have worked to launch our giveback program to 23 countries around the world. We lend a hand to help children across the world - for every product purchased, Hand In Hand donates one bar of soap and clean water to a child in need.
IN 2013, WE LAUNCHED OUR CLEAN WATER PROGRAM WITH THE OPENING OF OUR FIRST WELL IN ONAVILLE, HAITI.
We appreciate you taking the time to learn more about our social mission to provide soap and clean water to children in the developing world through our buy a bar, give a bar and clean water programs. We exist to harness business for good by leveraging the enormous positive power of capitalism and consumerism to solve real world problems. We don’t do this alone, but rather together with our consumers and other business partners, hand in hand.
